Lacrosse defeats Presbyterian in exhibition game
MARS HILL, N.C. - Tyler Farmer recorded four goals and two assists in a 17-7 Mars Hill exhibition game victory over Presbyterian at the Ammons Family Athletic Center and Meares Stadium.
Kile Garrett added three goals and one assist for the Lions. Eric Benesch and Jamie Raezer each posted two goals. Chad Howson, Logan Elliott, Jason Messineo, Blake Mattinson, Tyler Wilcox and Calvin Brien each had one goal. Alex Gavilla had an assist.
Tyler Melnyk and Imari Davis led the Blue Hose with two goals apiece. Andrew Athens, Derek Malone and Patrick Foy each had one goal.
Dylan Price made six saves for Mars Hill. Jesse Mimken had four saves off the bench.
Jon Athens had 11 saves for Presbyterian.
Mars Hill blew open a close game by outscoring Presbyterian 6-1 in the second quarter to take a 10-3 advantage into the locker room at intermission.
After each team scored two goals in the third quarter, the Lions exploded for five goals in the fourth quarter. The Lions outshot the Blue Hose, 47-23.
Mars Hill opens the regular season on Wednesday, February 16, at St. Andrews. The game is set to begin at 3:30 p.m. ET.
