Lacrosse defeats No. 10 Pfeiffer in season finale
MARS HILL, N.C. - Five different players scored two goals apiece to lead Mars Hill over 10th-ranked Pfeiffer, 10-8, at the Ammons Family Athletic Center and Meares Stadium. The Lions conclude the season 11-4, while the Falcons fall to 10-6.
Trailing 2-1, Mars Hill outscored Pfeiffer 3-0 in the second quarter and never looked back. Jamie Raezer and Adam Traynor each scored unassisted goals before Tim Burns scored found the net man for a man-down goal.
The two teams traded goals in the second half. The Falcons scored two goals in the final 1:03 of the game but could not get any closer.
Raezer, Traynor, Burns, Tyler Farmer and Eric Benesch each had two goals. Five different Lion players tallied one assist. Dylan Price made 18 saves in goal, while Jesse Mimken had one save.
Pfeiffer's James Shepherd led all scorers with three goals. Justin Rose added two. Kory Lutes and Elliot Gilbert each had two assists. Hayden Kirk recorded 13 saves. TJ Connors added two saves.
The Falcons outshot the Lions, 42-38. Pfeiffer won 13-of-22 face-offs. Mars Hill was 28-of-30 on clear attempts. Pfeiffer was 24-of-28 in the same category.
