Lacrosse Picked to Finish in Third; Four Lions Earn Preseason Honors

The Mars Hill men’s lacrosse team was picked to finish in third place in the South Atlantic Conference. Jimmy McBride and Anthony Malcom earned preseason first team honors while Ryan Sage and Tanner Leach claimed spots on the second team.

ROCK HILL, S.C. - The Mars Hill men's lacrosse team was picked to finish in third place in the South Atlantic Conference by the league's coaches. Four Mars Hill players have earned preseason All-SAC honors.

The Lions finished in third place with a 5-2 league mark during the inaugural SAC men's lacrosse campaign a year ago. Mars Hill finished the season with a 7-8 overall record.

Seniors Jimmy McBride and Anthony Malcom earned first team honors at attack and midfield. McBride was third in the league with 39 goals and fourth with 55 points in 2014. Malcom scored 25 goals with 21 assists.

Senior Ryan Sage and junior Tanner Leach claimed spots on the second team at midfield and long pole midfield. Sage was second in the league with 42 goals and fifth with 50 points. Leach scored one goal, picked up 27 ground balls and was second on the team with nine caused turnovers.

Defending champion Queens was selected to win the league. The Royals earned eight of nine possible first place votes for 72 points. Lenoir-Rhyne, the 2014 runner-up, was the second place pick with 64 points followed by the Lions in third with 55 points.

Mars Hill opens the season on Valentine's Day at Pfeiffer.
