Lacrosse Drops Decision at Lenoir-Rhyne
HICKORY, N.C. – The Lions lacrosse team dropped a 12-4 decision to conference rival Lenoir-Rhyne on Saturday, March 26.

HICKORY, N.C. – The Lions lacrosse team dropped a 12-4 decision to conference rival Lenoir-Rhyne on Saturday, March 26. Mars Hill falls to 0-8 overall and 0-4 within the SAC while L-R improves to 7-5, 5-0.
The Blue and Gold got out to a hot start as Nathan Stewart blasted his 14th score of the season at the 8:32 mark of the first period followed by Jake Trafton's goal with just under two minutes remaining in the opening stanza to give the Lions a 2-0 lead.
However, the Bears started the second frame with three consecutive goals to take their first lead at 3-2. Stewart came right back for Mars Hill with his second goal of the contest to knot the match at 3-all. Will Remsen snuck one just past the keeper late in the first half to give the home team a 4-3 advantage heading into the break.
Following the intermission Lenoir-Rhyne went back on the offensive, running the score to 8-3 behind Remsen's second goal. Josh Bryers added a notch on the scoreboard for the Lions with 44 ticks left in the third, but the Bears won the fourth period 4-0 to take the 12-4 win.
Asyck Schildt led the Lions with three ground balls while Stewart tallied the pair of goals on four shots at the target. Ryan Kearney played all 60 minutes between the pipes, collecting a season-high 18 saves on 49 shot attempts.
Mars Hill will be back in action on Saturday, April 2 as they play host to Coker College. Game time is set for 7:00 p.m. at Meares Stadium.
