Ferreira Named SAC Men's Lacrosse Player of the Week
Mars Hill attack Dima Ferreira has been named the South Atlantic Conference AstroTurf Men’s Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week.
ROCK HILL, S.C. – Mars Hill attack Dima Ferreira has been named the South Atlantic Conference AstroTurf Men's Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week and Queens goalie Anthony Valenza has been named the South Atlantic Conference AstroTurf Men's Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week for games played Feb. 19-25, the League announced today.
Ferreira, a senior from Abingdon, Va., led the Lions to a 1-1 week with a 17-6 win over Shorter and a 17-9 loss to Colorado Mesa. He scored three goals and had three assists for six points, with two ground balls against Shorter. He also scored two goals with an assist for three points with two ground balls and two caused turnovers versus Colorado Mesa. For the week, Ferreira had five goals with four assists for nine points with four ground balls.
Valenza, a sophomore from Mt. Airy Md., led the Royals to a 6-5 win over nationally ranked No. 11 Mount Olive last week. He faced 16 shots between the pipes, making 11 saves for a 68.8 save percentage. Currently, Valenza ranks first in the SAC with a save percentage of 73.9.
This is the first Player of the Week honor for both Ferreira and Valenza.
