Lions defeated by Newberry in road SAC match

The Mars Hill men's soccer team (3-9-1, 0-7 SAC) was defeated 5-0 versus Newberry (8-4, 5-3 SAC) Saturday evening.

NEWBERRY, S.C. - The Mars Hill men's soccer team (3-9-1, 0-7 SAC) was defeated 5-0 versus Newberry (8-4, 5-3 SAC) Saturday evening.

In the 21st minute, Ibrahim Nadir put the Wolves up 1-0 off of a free kick conversion. With less than four minutes to play in the first half, Sam Ottley netted his first of the season, taking a crossing pass from Nadir to put Newberry up by two.

Nadir picked up another goal and assist in the second half, scoring his second to put the Wolves up 3-0 in the 62nd minute and assisting on Tomasso Davico's first of the season just over four minutes later. Yannis Wome posted the fifth and final goal of the evening in the 83rd minute.

Both Walker Henderson and Joakim Lien recorded three shots apiece to lead the Lions.

Mars Hill returns home to Ammons Family Athletic Center and Meares Stadium on Wednesday, October 23rd when they host USC Aiken in non-conference play. Kickoff is scheduled for 6 p.m.
