Lions Win Second-Straight Match
MARS HILL, N.C.-- The Mars Hill men's tennis team defeated Brevard 8-1 to earn their second-consecutive victory in a South Atlantic Conference match Wednesday afternoon at the Hart Tennis Center.
Lucas Simm, Sam Lee, Zach High and Joel Sturgis all earned singles victories to pace the Lions. Lee, High and Sturgis each won in straight sets, while Simm earned a three-set victory. David Taggart notched Brevard's singles victory. Mars Hill is now 4-8 overall and 3-4 in SAC matches. Brevard is 2-16 overall and 0-8 in conference matches.
Simm and Euquerio Guerrero earned a 8-3 victory in the no. 1 doubles court, while Lee and High were also victorious. Mars Hill won one doubles and one singles point each by default.
Mars Hill will close out its regular season this weekend with a match at Lincoln Memorial at 1:00 p.m. Saturday and a match at Carson-Newman on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. A win in either match would clinch an appearance in the SAC Tournament for the Lions.
