Guerrero Named to Preseason All-SAC Team

The Mars Hill men’s tennis team was picked to finish in ninth place in the South Atlantic Conference by the league’s coaches in a preseason poll released Thursday. Junior Euquerio Guerrero was named to the preseason All-SAC Second Team.

ROCK HILL, S.C. – The Mars Hill men's tennis team was picked to finish in ninth place in the South Atlantic Conference by the league's coaches in a preseason poll released Thursday. Junior Euquerio Guerrero was named to the preseason All-SAC Second Team.

Mars Hill received 42 points in the poll, eight points behind eighth place Carson-Newman. In their first season under head coach John Hunter, the Lions went 5-10 and 4-5 in the South Atlantic Conference, qualifying for the league tournament for the first time in two seasons.

Guerrero went a team-best 7-7 last season with a 6-3 record in league play, winning three of his last four matches to help the Lions clinch their tournament spot.

Wingate tied for third in the SAC standings at 7-2 last season, finishing 16-11 overall. The Bulldogs received five of the possible 12 first-place votes in the preseason poll.

2013 SAC co-regular season champion Tusculum is second in the poll, while last year's Food Lion SAC Tournament champion Lincoln Memorial is third. Tusculum earned three first-place votes in the poll, while LMU received two.

Anderson, which split the SAC title with Tusculum last season, is fourth in the preseason poll, followed by No. 5 Coker, which received the final two first-place votes.
