Men's Tennis Earns Road Win Over Brevard

BREVARD, N.C. – The Mars Hill men's tennis team recorded a 6-3 victory over Brevard on Monday afternoon. With the win, the Lions improve to 5-8 on the season and 3-3 in South Atlantic Conference play.
Mars Hill won the top two doubles pairings as Euquerio Guerrero and Sam Lee defeated David Taggart and Rory Northam 8-5 in the top flight, with Joel Sturgis and Alberto Ortiz teaming up for an 8-1 win over Chris Plasa and Guilherme Prophirio in number two doubles.
Guerrero won number one singles with a 6-0, 6-0 shutout of Taggert. Ortiz defeated Northam 6-2, 6-3 in the second singles flight, with Lee a 6-0, 6-3 victor over Nathan Nicholson. Sturgis earned Mars Hill's final win of the afternoon with a 6-2, 6-0 victory over Plasa. Markus Gattner lost in a tiebreaker to Prophiro, 6-3, 4-6, 7-6 (10-2).
Mars Hill returns to action on Wednesday, hosting Carson-Newman at 1 p.m.
