Singles Victories Help Lions Halt Crusaders
The Mars Hill men’s tennis team won five of six singles matches en route to a 6-3 triumph over North Greenville on Tuesday.
TIGERVILLE, S.C. - The Mars Hill men's tennis team won five of six singles matches en route to a 6-3 triumph over North Greenville on Tuesday. The Lions improve to 3-0 while North Greenville falls to 0-2.
After the Lions lost the first two doubles matches, Alberto Ortiz and Carlos Suares Riesco knocked off Santiago Robles and Edmundo Torres 8-3 in number three doubles. North Greenville won number one singles before Raymond Donovan tied the match at two with a 6-4, 6-3 win over Jose Gomez.
Ortiz defeated Alejandro Torre 6-4, 6-1 at number three singles, with Riesco claiming a 6-4, 6-3 win over Juan Vargas. Sam Lee won 6-3, 6-3 over Robles in the fifth singles match, followed by a three set win for Markus Gattner over Marcelo Yshikawa, 6-2, 4-6, 6-2.
Mars Hill welcomes Tusculum for a non-conference match on Saturday at the Hart Tennis Center. First serve is scheduled for Noon.
