Lions Rally to Defeat Brevard
After dropping two of three doubles matches, the Mars Hill men’s tennis team won five of six singles matches to claim a 6-3 victory over Brevard
BREVARD, N.C.- After dropping two of three doubles matches, the Mars Hill men's tennis team won five of six singles matches to claim a 6-3 victory over Brevard on Saturday. Mars Hill improves to 6-4 overall and 2-3 in the South Atlantic Conference while Brevard drops to 4-5 and 0-3.
Euquerio Guerrero and Alberto Ortiz were 8-4 winners on the top doubles court before Brevard won the second and third doubles matches each by an 8-5 score.
Guerrero defeated David Taggert 6-2, 6-2 at number one singles, with Ortiz claiming a victory over George Finch with a winning score of 6-0, 7-6 (7-5) at the second singles court. Carlos Suares Riesco used three sets to defeat Rory Northan, 6-4, 4-6, 1-0 (10-7) at number four singles. Sam Lee blanked Christoph Plasa 6-0, 6-0, at number five singles, followed by a 6-3, 6-2 win for Blake Covington over Richie Liell at number six singles.
Mars Hill will travel to Catawba on March 25.
