Gamecock Invitational Results
COLUMBIA, S.C.-Mars Hill's track teams competed in their last indoor meet of the season at the USC Gamecock Invitation on Saturday. Each team had members set personal bests at the invite.

The event in which the Lions proved most successful was the men's mile run, which was won by Alex Griggs with a time of 4:37.65. Teammates Eric Blackburn and Kiel Bollero placed second and fourth respectively in the event.
In the men's 3000 meters, all four Mars Hill runners had personal best times. Brady Adcock placed second overall with a time of 9:05.11. The Lions men also took the top five non-Division I spots in the 400 meters, led by Isiah Phyall with a fifth place finish.
Travis Riner had success throwing for the Lions, placing third overall in the Shot Put with a throw of 45'10.75".
Other notable performances by the men's team included Isaac Phyall and Terrance McKnight both advancing to the finals of the 55 Meter Hurdles. Phyall posted a career-best time of 8.30. Jamerson Turner and Cameron Shaw each advanced to the finals of the 55 Meter Dash.
The women's team also posted notable successful performances. Jessica Viscusi finished second overall in the 800 Meters with a blazing time of 2:34.66. Heidi Hooker, Danielle Metz and Anje Kidd also turned good performances in distance events, as all posted personal-bests in the 3000 Meter run.
Meredith Mercer and Ginny Smith each advanced to the semifinals of the 55 Meter Hurdles. Mercer twice broke personal-bests in the prelims and in the semis, finishing with a new career-best time of 9.66. Alexis Montgomery also advanced to the semifinals of the 55 Meter Dash with a time of 7.46.
The track teams will be in action again on March 3 when they travel to Blacksburg, Va. for the Virginia Tech Last Chance Meet.
