Gamecock Invitational Results
COLUMBIA, S.C.- The Mars Hill men's track and field team competed successfully in the USC Gamecock Invitational, held Saturday at the University of South Carolina.
Travis Riner turned in another strong performance in the Shot Put, placing first with a throw of 49'-7.75". That throw was better than several Division I performers and is the junior's second first-place finish of the week.

The Lions took the top eight spots of the 3000 Meter Run. Alex Griggs, Cesar Reyes, Derek Gibson, Daniel Jezioranski and Brady Adcock took home the top five spots.Griggs' winning time was 8:56.54 and capped the strongest finish ever in the 3000 Meters for Mars Hill track and field.
Eric Blackburn placed third in the One Mile Run with a time of 4:55.88.
Two Lions placed in the top five of the 800 Meter Run. Jonathan Spence and Chase Shermer placed third and fourth respectively. Spence ran a time of 2:10.50, while Shermer finished just behind at 2:10.68.
Isaac Phyall turned in a fourth-place finish in the 55 Meter Hurdles with a finals time of 8.36. Erin Parker added a 6.60 performance in the 55 Meter Dash, good enough for fifth place.
Mars Hill will compete in the Virginia Tech Qualifier and the
Power Sox Invitational on Saturday, Mar. 2.
