Track Teams Have Strong Day at ASU, UNC Meets
The Mars Hill track and field teams chose to divide and conquer this weekend, sending athletes to the Appalachian State Pre-Conference meet as well as the Dennis Craddock Invitational held at the University of North Carolina.

Appalachian State Pre-Conference Meet
Aiyana Chin set a new school record in the Weight Throw with a distance of 11.25 meters. Dana Thompson held the record for a short time during the meet before Chin's long throw.
Dwayne Boone broke his school record in the high jump, clearing the bar with a new record and meet winning height of 6 feet, 4.5 inches. Alex Griggs won the men's 3000 Meter Run with a time of 8:52.90. Derek Gibson finished in third place behind Griggs, crossing the line in 9:11.07.
Tre'von Gee and Marvin Fullwood finished in second and third place in the 55 Meter High Hurdles. Gee crossed the line in 7.81 seconds with Fullwood following with a time of 7.93.
Tocarra Jeffries set a new personal record in the 55 Meter Dash with a time of 7.79 and the 55 Meter Hurdles with a time of 9.80, finishing in third place. Shaquavia Harper set new PRs in the 55 Meter Dash and the 200 Meter Dash.
Dennis Craddock Invitational
Jessica Viscusi set a new indoor record and tied her outdoor record in the 800 Meter Run, crossing the line with a time of 2:22 for a sixth place finish. Savannah Hulbert set a pair of personal records, finishing the 60 Meter Dash in 8.23 seconds and the 200 Meter Dash in 27.54 seconds. Alexis Montgomery finished in fourth place in the 400 Meter Dash with a time of 59.76. Chase Shermer set a new personal record in the Mile with a time of 4:29.
