Men's Track Has Solid Day at Mountaineer Open
Alex Griggs won the 3000 meter run, Trevon Gee and Jay Myers scored second place finishes.
BOONE, N.C. - The Mars Hill men's track team had several strong performances on Saturday at the Mountaineer Open hosted by Appalachian State University. The Lions finished in third place out of 17 teams with 57 points.
Alex Griggs was the winner in the 3000 Meter Run with a time of 8:54.55. Trevon Gee finished second in the 55 Meter Hurdles with a time of 7.77 seconds. Jay Myers recorded a second place finish in the 55 Meter Dash, finishing in 6.46 seconds. Myers broke a school record that had stood for 15 years.
Cesar Reyes finished in third place in the 800 Meter Run with a time of 2:02.40. Isaac Phyall earned fourth place in the men's triple jump with a mark of 12.81 meters. The 4x400 Meter Relay team of Reyes, Garrett Farrimond, Cameron Lackey and Jonathan Spence finished in second place with a time of 3:38.56. The quartet of Marlon Allen, Marcus Foster, Dontonio Garrison and Malachi Young set a new school record in the 4X300 relay with a time of 2:28.91.
Mars Hill will return to action next weekend.
