Track Teams Have Good Showing At Charlotte 49er Classic
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Mars Hill men’s and women’s track teams took part in the Charlotte 49er Classic March 17-19 on the campus of UNC-Charlotte.
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Mars Hill men's and women's track teams took part in the Charlotte 49er Classic March 17-19 on the campus of UNC-Charlotte. The two teams, consisting of a handful of runners, showed great determination against stiff competition.
On the men's side, Nick Resor continued his terrific year, setting a new personal-best in the 5000 meter race. Resor was able to destroy his old mark by one minute and fifteen seconds, crossing the line at 15:35.80.
Chase Shermer was able to pick up a 32nd place finish in the 1500, finishing with a time of 4:04.37. Dontonio Garrison competed in the 800 and tallied 75th overall with a time of 2:03.89.
Kedar Peeples was the only individual to participate in more than one event. He tested his quickness in the 100 and 200, collecting places of 65th and 81st, respectively.
As for the women, Shelby Robinson crossed the line in 45th place during the 5000 meter race, the second-fastest time of her career. Taylor Jordan was able to take home a top-20 finish in the javelin, hitting a distance of 33.27 meters, good for 19th.
The two teams will return to action on Friday, March 25 as they head back to Charlotte to take on Wingate University.
