Lions Track and Field Impressive at Susan Rouse Invite
CENTRAL, S.C. – The Mars Hill track and field teams produced a solid showing at the Susan Rouse Invite hosted Southern Wesleyan University on April 7-8.
CENTRAL, S.C. – The Mars Hill track and field teams produced a solid showing at the Susan Rouse Invite hosted Southern Wesleyan University on April 7-8. Several runners earned new personal bests, while the Lions also had performers at the top of the leaderboard during the two-day meet.
On the women's side Jordan Bair continued her impressive streak in the pole vault event, collecting a first place finish while also setting a new school record of 3.36 meters. Racheal Strickland contributed a 30-second PR in the 5000m race with a time of 20:18, while Nyla Feeney added a career-best in the 3000m. During the field events, Samantha Burns turned in a personal record in the triple jump with a distance of 33 feet 10 inches and Raven Brooks cleared 4' 7" in the high jump for a new personal best. Dana Thompson finished second in the hammer throw with a distance of 36 meters and Shahnika Williams ended up in fifth place in the long jump event.
As for the men, Noah Allison found himself atop the standings in the 3000m after crossing the line at the 8:55 mark, just ahead of teammate Nathan Jones, who finished second. Allison also had a personal record in the 1500m with a stellar time of 4:03. Markece Cunningham posted second place finishes in the discus throw (38m) and shot put (13.11m- new PR). Spencer Shade took home first in the pole vault for the second week in a row.
