Mars Hill places ninth at Montreat College Invitational
The Mars Hill men's track and field team placed ninth overall at the conclusion of the Montreat College Invitational Saturday evening.
MONTREAT, N.C. - The Mars Hill men's track and field team placed ninth overall at the conclusion of the Montreat College Invitational Saturday evening.
Mars Hill accumulated 24 points on day two, ending the event with a total of 41 points.
In the 110 meter hurdles, Tyrize Claud placed third with a time of 15.59 to earn six points while Joshua Vereen finished sixth for three points, turning in a time of 16.21.
Vereen also placed fifth in the 400 meter hurdles to earns four points with a time of 58.17.
Placing seventh and eighth, respectively, Jared Stanley and Blake Freeman earned three more points for the Lions in the 3000 meter steeplechase with times of 10:47.59 and 10:49.73. Nick Resor placed ninth with a time of 11:04.52.
In the 4x100 meter relay, the quartet of Rodney Dejournett, Malik Frost, Bryan Smith and Jahrel Morrison placed seventh with a time of 43.96 to earn three points for the Lions.
Smith picked up another two points for the Lions in the triple jump, placing seventh overall with a distance of 13.12 meters. In the shot put, Tyler Holloway finished sixth, recording a distance of 13.16 meters and earning three points for Mars Hill. The distance marked a personal best by two feet.
