Lions Shine at App State
BOONE, N.C. – The Mars Hill men’s cross country team participated in the Covered Bridge Cross Country Meet on Friday, September 02, hosted by Appalachian State.
BOONE, N.C. – The Mars Hill men's cross country team participated in the Covered Bridge Cross Country Meet on Friday, September 02, hosted by Appalachian State. The Lions ran against some of the top Division I schools in the nation, such as Florida, Florida State, and East Carolina in the 6.4k race.
Senior Nathan Jones led the way on the afternoon with an eighth place finish and a magnificent time of 20:29.67, setting a new personal record by 25 seconds.
Brandon Beard and James Gilreath claimed 37th and 46th places, respectively as each was able to cross the line in a new best. Gilreath shaved two minutes off last year's time, finishing in 21:34.57.
Garrett Farrimond took home 50th while Noah Allison rounded out the top performers in 57th position.
The men's team came in sixth place overall out of 10 teams. Mars Hill will be back in action on Saturday, September 10, traveling to Furman University for the Furman Invitational.
