Women’s Basketball Picked Eighth in SAC Poll
Young selected to preseason All-Conference first team
ROCK HILL, S.C. - The Mars Hill women's basketball team was picked to finish in eighth place in the South Atlantic Conference, the conference office announced Friday. Brittini Young was named to the preseason All-Conference first team.
Young, from Ramseur, N.C., was the SAC's leading scorer last season. She averaged 22.0 points per game last season to go along with 3.33 assists per game and 1.78 steals per game. Young ranked third in the league in free-throw percentage. For her efforts, she was selected as an Honorable Mention All-American by the Women's Division II Bulletin.
Tusculum is the preseason favorite to win the 2010-11 South Atlantic Conference regular season women's basketball crown.
Mars Hill opens the regular season at King on November 13 at 6 p.m. The Lions host Converse in the first regular season home game on November 19 at 6 p.m. on the first day of the Biltmore Farms/Mars Hill Classic.
The 2011 Food Lion South Atlantic Conference tournament will begin on March 2 with quarterfinal games on campus sites. Winners advance to the tournament semifinals on March 5 at the Catawba Valley Community College Multipurpose Facility in Hickory, N.C. The championship game will be March 6 at 2 p.m.
