Tucker Named SAC Player of the Week
This is the second time Tucker wins award
ROCK HILL, S.C. - Anderson's Taylor Shugart and Mars Hill's Danielle Tucker both put up big scoring and rebounding numbers for their teams last week, and on Tuesday were named the SAC Basketball Players of the Week, announced conference officials.
Shugart's strong play spurred the Anderson men to a pair of victories, helping the Trojans remain undefeated in the SAC.
In AU's win over Newberry, Shugart finished with 23 and 14 rebounds, shooting an efficient 11-of-15 from the field.
The Rock Hill, S.C., native followed that up with another 23-point, 14-rebound performance in a key upset of No. 1 Lincoln Memorial on Saturday, giving the Trojans sole possession of first place in the SAC standings.
Shugart shot 62.5-percent on the week and also added three blocks and three steals.
Danielle Tucker, meanwhile, averaged 24 points and nine rebounds as the Mars Hill women split a pair of games last week.
In the Lions' victory at LMU on Wednesday, Tucker scored 26 points and grabbed nine rebounds. She then finished with 22 points and nine boards on Saturday in a setback at Wingate, making 10-of-12 from the foul line.
Tucker's solid week also included six steals.
