Ricker Named SAC Player of the Week
Mars Hill junior guard Ansley Ricker was named the South Atlantic Conference Player of the Week, league officials announced on Monday.
ROCK HILL, S.C. - Mars Hill junior guard Ansley Ricker was named the South Atlantic Conference Player of the Week, league officials announced on Monday. Ricker earns the Player of the Week award for the first time in her Mars Hill career.
In two games last week, Ricker averaged 30 points per game, including a career-high 37 points in an 83-70 loss to Lenoir-Rhyne. Against the Bears, Ricker went 12-of-22 from the floor and was 10-of-10 from the free throw line along with six rebounds and three assists. Ricker's 37 point output is five shy of the Mars Hill individual game record, held by Sonia Gahagan.
Ricker came through in the clutch in Mars Hill's 69-66 road victory over Lincoln Memorial on Wednesday, sinking a pair of free-throws with 34 seconds remaining to secure the victory. Ricker scored a game high 23 points in that contest.
Entering this week's games, Ricker ranks second in the league in scoring with an average of 18 points per game.
Ricker and her Mars Hill teammates welcome Tusculum to Stanford Arena for a 6 p.m. start on Wednesday.
