Women's Basketball Falls to Catawba
The Catawba women’s basketball team led from start to finish as the Indians defeated Mars Hill 85-72.
SALISBURY, N.C.- The Catawba women's basketball team led from start to finish as the Indians defeated Mars Hill 85-72 in Goodman Gym on Saturday. Mars Hill drops to 5-10 on the season and 3-7 in the South Atlantic Conference. Catawba improves to 9-6 and 6-4.
Camille Glymph scored 30 points to lead the Lions. Glymph has finished with 30 or more points in each of the last two games. Kelsey Espinosa had a double-double with 11 points and 12 rebounds. Cadence Wilmoth scored eight points.
Bri Johnson tallied 26 points to lead Catawba, followed by 19 from Chloe Bully and 10 from Jade Huntley.
The Indians opened a 17-9 lead to start the game before Mars Hill cut the lead to three, 21-18, following a Katie Stevens 3-pointer with 6:48 to play in the first half. Catawba pushed its lead to 13 before a Stevens jumper sent the Lions into halftime down 38-30.
Glymph brought the Lions to within four, 43-39, following a 3-pointer with 16:34 to play. Mars Hill stayed between five and eight points before the Indians went on a 13-0 run to take a 60-42 lead with 11:24 to play. Catawba led by a game-high 21 points with 9:45 to play as the Lions got no closer than 10 points the rest of the way.
Mars Hill hosts Lincoln Memorial on Wednesday at 6 p.m.
