Lions downed by Crusaders to conclude Conference Carolinas Challenge
The Mars Hill women's basketball team (0-2) was defeated by a score of 86-39 versus Belmont Abbey (1-1) to conclude the Conference Carolinas Challenge Saturday evening.

BRISTOL, Tenn. - The Mars Hill women's basketball team (0-2) was defeated by a score of 86-39 versus Belmont Abbey (1-1) to conclude the Conference Carolinas Challenge Saturday evening.
The Lions entered the second quarter down 23-6 versus the Crusaders. Brittany Autry led all players with seven points in the first, followed by Allie Downing and Taylor Stelley, who each added six points.
Mars Hill scored 17 points in the second, their most on the day. De'Ja Marshall recorded six points in the frame while Mallory Gardner added three. Alexis Pardue, Tatum Boggs, Fajhenee Bradford, and Gabby Gianikos each added two apiece.
Belmont Abbey outscored Mars Hill 35-16 int he second half to pick up their first victory on the year. Downing led all players with 20 points and added a game-high five assists. Autry finished the contest with 16 points.
Marshall led the Lions with 11 points followed by Boggs, Bradford, and Gardner, who each recorded five. Marshall also led the team with seven rebounds.
The Lions return to action on Tuesday, November 12 when they take on Lees-McRae. The road contest is scheduled for a 7 p.m. tipoff.
