Lincoln Memorial uses three-ball to down Lions at home

MARS HILL, N.C. - The Mars Hill women's basketball team (3-22, 1-18 SAC) fell to Lincoln Memorial (10-13, 9-10 SAC) in their penultimate home contest of the 2019-20 season by a score of 78-56.
The Railsplitters used the three-ball to their advantage, draining 14 of their 31 attempts with Lexi Kiser hitting six, leading all players with 18 points.
The teams traded baskets back-and-forth throughout the first quarter. With just over a minute left, the teams were tied at 13 before Kiser closed out the frame with back-to-back three-pointers, carrying a 19-15 lead into the second.
Lincoln Memorial built their lead to as many as 16 in the second, continuing their hot shooting streak. The Railsplitters shot 69 percent from the floor, hitting three three-pointers in the process. Lauren Flowers recorded six points in the run while De'Ja Marshall led the Lions with seven points.
The Railsplitters tacked on 21 more points in the third with a balanced scoring attack led by Flowers and Sydney Newsome's five points apiece. Alexis Pardue and Hannah McIntosh each recorded four points for Mars Hill.
In the final 10 minutes of play, the Lions outscored Lincoln Memorial by a mark of 14-13. Tatum Boggs led all players in the frame with five points while three Railsplitters each recorded three.
Following Kiser's 18 points, Newsome added 13 while Lindsay Proffitt recorded 12 followed by Flowers' 11 points. Flowers led all players with eight rebounds. Marshall led the Lions with 13 points followed by Boggs and Pardue's 10 apiece. Boggs, McIntosh, and Gabby Gianikos each recorded three assists.
The Lions take to the road on Saturday, February 22 versus Anderson. Tipoff is scheduled for 2 p.m.
