Lions fall to Trojans on road in SAC action

ANDERSON, S.C. - The Mars Hill women's basketball team (3-23, 1-19 SAC) fell to Anderson (22-4, 17-3 SAC) by a score of 81-58 Saturday afternoon on the road.
Anderson jumped out to an 11-7 lead midway through the first quarter before going on a 5-0 run, capped off by an Alexy Mollenhauer three-pointer to extend their lead to nine. Mollenhauer led all players with nine points in the frame while Tatum Boggs paced the Lions' offense, recording seven points.
The second quarter saw the Lions narrow the deficit to seven following a De'Ja Marshall jumper with 1:33 left in the half. Boggs pulled the Lions within four following a three-pointer, however, Anderson closed out the half on a 5-0 run to reestablish their nine point lead heading into the second half.
Anderson opened the half on a 7-0 run with Alexis Tate posting five points in the stretch. Despite falling behind by 17, the Lions went on a 9-0 run to bring the contest within single digits. Anderson responded in the final 1:13, reeling off six straight points. Mollenhauer and Tate led the Trojans in the third, recording 14 of their 18 points.
The Trojans closed out the contest, outscoring Mars Hill 19-10 with Mollenhauer posting seven points. Marshall led the Lions with four points while both Boggs and Drew McMillan added three points apiece.
Mollenhauer led all players with 26 points and 16 rebounds for the double-double. Tate ended the contest with 13 points. Marshall led the Lions with 17 points while Boggs added 15 on the day.
Mars Hill takes to the road for the final time this season versus Lenoir-Rhyne on Wednesday, February 26. Tipoff is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
