Lions Tied for Seventh at Fall Classic

Lion golfers totaled a score of 324 to tie the host Pioneers. Jacqueline McCormick led Mars Hill by firing a 77 to finish in a tie for eighth-place. McCormick shot a 36 on the back nine. MHU is tied for second among the five South Atlantic Conference teams competing in the event. UNC Pembroke is in first place with a score of 301. Laura Bird and Ashlii Thompson of UNCP tied Marley Felthousen of Converse atop the leaderboard with a score of 73.
Victoria Barrett carded a 79, including a 36 on the back nine to finish second among Lion golfers. Jordie Sowell, Sarah Johnson and Katherine Lail rounded out Mars Hill's top five. Sowell and Lail each improved their scores on the back nine.
Mars Hill will look to make a move up in the standings in tomorrow's final round. Four teams are separated from fifth place by five strokes.
