Lions Finish in Seventh at Cherokee Valley Invitational
Sarah Johnson finished in a tie for 12th place
TRAVELERS REST, S.C. - The Mars Hill women's golf team finished in seventh place at the Cherokee Valley Intercollegiate, held at the par-72, 5,901-yard Cherokee Valley Golf Club.
Sarah Johnson finished in a tie for 12th place with a score of 161 to lead the Lions. Johnson fired an 83 to lead Mars Hill in a warm but breezy second round. Victoria Barrett finished in a tie for 20th after she shot a second round 86 and a two-day score of 168. Emma Lundvall shot a 91 in second round action and finished with a 174. Lindsey Ball lowered her second round total by six strokes, finishing with an 87 and a total score of 180. Raven Brown shot a 95 to finish with a combined score of 189.
Julie Loennechen of Mount Olive with the individual winner as she shot an even par 72 to finish with a 151, two strokes ahead of second place. Mount Olive was the team winner by eight strokes over Queens.
Mars Hill will compete at the South Atlantic Conference championship beginning on Sunday, April 12. The tournament will be held at the Sevierville Country Club in Sevierville, Tenn.
