Women's Golf With Brilliant Final Round
TRAVELERS REST, S.C. – The Mars Hill women’s golf team turned in a brilliant performance during the final round of the Cherokee Valley Invitational on Tuesday, March 29.
TRAVELERS REST, S.C. – The Mars Hill women's golf team turned in a brilliant performance during the final round of the Cherokee Valley Invitational on Tuesday, March 29. The Lions, who shot a 353 on day one, shaved 20 strokes off of that total while also picking up two spots in the overall standings to finish in sixth place with a combined score of 686 (+110).
Victoria Barrett was the high finisher for the Blue and Gold, jumping 13 spots to claim a tie for 12th after firing a second round 78 (+6), nine strokes better than day one. Although Barrett finished the highest, Sarah Johnson had the biggest leap in the standings, going from 36th position during her opening round 91 all the way to 21st with a second day total of 79 (+7).
Emma Lundvall shot an 87 (+15) and Raven Brown notched an 89 (+17), good for 28th and 33rd places, respectively. Marie Syvertsen was also able to improve on the final day, shooting a first round 99 compared to a second day 90 (+18) and moving five spots in the standings from 45th to 40th.
Queens University took the top team prize with a two day total of 627 (+51) while the Royals' Grace Glaze earned individual honors, shooting four-over par for the two rounds.
The Lions will return to action on April 10-11 as they compete in the SAC Championships at the Monroe Country Club in Monroe, N.C.
