Mars Hill concludes fall play at Newberry Fall Invitational
The Mars Hill women's golf team concluded fall play at the Newberry Fall Invitational on Tuesday, October 31, finishing in last place. Janie Gooch finished as the top Lions' performer.
ELGIN, S.C. - The Mars Hill women's golf team concluded fall play at the Newberry Fall Invitational on Tuesday, October 31, finishing in last place. Janie Gooch finished as the top Lions' performer.
Gooch shot back-to-back rounds of 84, ending the tournament in 31st place.
Emilee Wenmouth improved her second round play by three strokes, moving from 39th to 36th place with a final score of +35 over the two days. Marie Syvertsen remained in 38th place, shooting another +18 round.
Jasmine Chesnut and Courtney Jo Simpkins rounded out the Lions' group, finishing in 41st and 42nd, respectively. Simpkins improved from her first round score of +116 with a second round score of +97, a 19 stroke difference.
The Lions had a 10 stroke improvement in the second round, shooting a combined +354 on the day. They ended the event with a +718 score.

Mars Hill will return to play on Sunday, February 25 where they will host the Mars Hill Spring Invitational at Broadmoor Golf Links.
