Mars Hill finishes ninth at Coker Spring Invitational
The Mars Hill women's golf team was unable to move up the leaderboard on day two of the Coker Spring Invitational and concluded the tournament with a ninth place finish on Tuesday afternoon.
HARTSVILLE, S.C. - The Mars Hill women's golf team was unable to move up the leaderboard on day two of the Coker Spring Invitational and concluded the tournament with a ninth place finish on Tuesday afternoon.
Despite a 20-stroke improvement as a team in the second round compared to Monday's first round, the Lions could not gain ground on the opposition and settled for a last place finish.
Janie Gooch was the top finisher for Mars Hill, shooting +16 over the two days, good for an 18th place finish. Marie Syvertsen had the most dramatic improvement for the Lions, shooting a second round +5, nine strokes better than Monday's outing. She finished the tournament with a +19 mark that netted her a 29th place finish.
Emilee Wenmoth's six-stroke improvement in round two pushed her into 36th overall. Jasmine Chesnut and Kanani Thomas, despite improving their second round scores by three and five strokes, respectively, rounded out the field in the 47th and 48th positions.

The Lions return to the links Monday, March 26 when they participate in the UNC-Pembroke Sunoco Campbell Oil Classic at the River Landing Golf Course in Wallace, N.C.
