MARS HILL, N.C. – The Mars Hill women's lacrosse team recently held their first annual Dress Drive, providing dresses to those at the Madison County Family Services.
The lacrosse team partnered with fellow women's athletic teams on campus to collect a variety of formal dresses beginning in late December and culminating with over 30 dresses donated by mid-January. Donations were accepted by the team and coaches Kristina Llanes and Taylor McGhee.
"We are around the same age as a lot of those supported by the Family Services, so the people that were going to be wearing our dresses, we could relate to," said freshman midfielder Rebecca Dallman.
Dallman added that she believed the Dress Drive was a success not only for the cause, but also the Mars Hill athletic community.
"The Dress Drive was a really good way to bring together all the girls that play here at Mars Hill."
The Lions open their inaugural season on Saturday, February 10 with a contest against Brevard at the Ammons Family Athletic Center and Meares Stadium. The game is scheduled for an 11 a.m. start.
