Lions downed by Royals in SAC action

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The Mars Hill (2-9, 0-6 SAC) lost to Queens (6-8, 4-1 SAC), 20-6, in South Atlantic Conference action Saturday afternoon.
The Royals' Ally Blood netted a hat-trick in the opening 1:23 of the game and scored her fourth of the game just 5:40 into the contest to help lead Queens to a 5-0 advantage. At the 5:59 mark of the opening half, Olivia Hokanson scored the first Mars Hill goal. In return, Queens reeled off five straight goals to extend their lead to 10-1 with 14:54 remaining in the first.
Hokanson would add three more goals in the first half, but Queen's persistent offense continued to further the gap, entering halftime with a 14-4 lead over the Lions.
Sydney Lear and Katy Miller each scored twice for the Royals in the second half while Molly Tobias and Hokanson scored the only two Mars Hill goals in the final 30 minutes.
Hanna Scott (3g, 3a) led all Royals with six points. Blood finished the game with five goals and Katie Wardle (3g, 2a) added five points. Hokanson (5g, 1a) led Mars Hill with six points.
Chase Brokaw made four saves in 30 minutes of play to earn the victory. Alexandria Holleran stopped seven of 27 shots in the losing effort.
Mars Hill returns to the Ammons Family Athletic Center and Meares Stadium on Wednesday, April 11 for a 7 p.m. contest versus North Greenville.
