Lions' late push thwarted by Young Harris

YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. - The Mars Hill women's lacrosse team (1-2) fell to Young Harris (1-0) by a score of 20-14 Tuesday afternoon on the road.
Young Harris opened the contest on a 5-0 run with Taylor Greenberg and Leigh Ann Turner netting two goals apiece during the run. Breaking up the stretch momentarily was Alexa Tazzetta's first of the afternoon. Young Harris scored three more following Tazzetta's tally, but the Lions responded by scoring four straight to cut the deficit to 8-5.
In the final 10 minutes of the first half, both teams traded three goals apiece, with Young Harris leading Mars Hill, 13-8. Tazzetta recorded four points (3g, 1a) in the first stanza while Greenberg collected five of her game-high six goals after 30 minutes of play.
Young Harris led by as many as seven in the second half before Mars Hill reeled off four straight to once again, pull within three goals. Goals from Kiersten Foust, Maria Fabrizio, Camryn Marcey, and Sydney Joyce cut the Young Harris lead down to 16-13, however, three straight goals from the Lions reestablished the six-goal advantage.
Greenberg led Young Harris with six points, followed by Ansley Coles' five points (2g, 3 a). Joyce led the Lions with six points (4g, 2a) while Tazzetta ended the contest with five points (3g, 2a).
Mars Hill returns to action on Saturday, February 15 when they host Lander inside the Ammons Family Athletic Center and Meares Stadium. First draw is scheduled for 3 p.m.
