Women’s Soccer Loses at Carson-Newman
JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. - The Carson-Newman women's soccer team defeated Mars Hill 2-0 on Saturday afternoon in South Atlantic Conference action at McCown Field.
With the win, the Lady Eagles push their winning streak to six matches and improve to 9-6-0 overall and 6-1-0 in the conference. C-N also moved into a tie atop the SAC standings. Mars Hill falls to 8-5-2 on the season and 2-4-2 in SAC play.
Freshman Bianca Hall (Newcastle, England) put the Lady Eagles on the board just before the half as she finished off a pass from Morgan Gruenenfelder (Sweetwater, Tenn.) in the 38th minute to give C-N a 1-nil lead heading into the locker room.
The Lady Eagles added to their lead in the 61st minute when sophomore Andrea Saevik (Froystadvaag, Norway) headed in a free kick from Melissa Morris (Sweetwater, Tenn.).
C-N goalkeeper Sarah Tompkins (Franklin, Wis.) collected six saves in picking up the shutout, while Mars Hill's Chelsea Parker (Richmond, Va.) tallied 10 saves in the loss.
Mars Hill will play at Lincoln Memorial on Wednesday at 2 p.m.
