Women’s Soccer Defeats Lees-McRae 1-0
MARS HILL, N.C. - The Lions' women's soccer team defeated Lees-McRae College, 1-0 Saturday evening in the Ammons Family Athletic Center and Meares Stadium. The Bobcats entered the contest ranked eighth in the Southeast Region. MHC improved to 7-10-1 on the year while LMC fell to 12-4-1 on the season.
Mars Hill recognized their senior players before the contest. Abbie Hoard, Jaimie Little, Miranda Reasoner, Becca Sellars, Marthaliz Taboas, Jamila Walker and Salem Woody played their final contest in Meares Stadium.
The match winning goal came at the 3:23 mark when Alyssa Morris found the back of the net from 35 yards out on a pass from Jamila Walker. The match would not see additional offense from either team.
LMC outshot the Lions, 21-4. The Bobcats had a demanding advantage on corner kicks, 10-0. Becca Sellars played all 90 minutes in goal for MHC and made a season high 10 saves. Kaitlyn Briggs also played the entire match in the net for LMC and made one save.
