Women’s Soccer Adds Two to Signee List
MARS HILL, N.C. - The Mars Hill women's soccer team rounded out its 2012 recruiting class with two additional signees. Sandra Megill and Tyler Moffat will be joining the program in 2012.
Megill and Moffat join previous signees Nicole Hebert, Rachel Blong, Abby Spitler, Hannah Russell, Tori Stajduhar and Aerial Ellis to form the Lions 2012 recruiting class.
Megill is a defender from Monroe, N.C. who attended Monroe High School. While there, Megill served as the secretary of FFA and was President of the National Honors Society. Megill also was a placekicker for the Monroe High School football team.
"Sandra has the ability to play center back, outside back, or outside midfield," said Mars Hill Head Coach Ken Miller. "We are excited about Sandra's potential. She is a versatile player with very good pace and technical skill. We are looking forward to Sandra coming in and competing for playing time within our defense and helping to solidify our back line. We are excited to add quality defenders to our young defensive core to create a stingy defense. I am excited to help Sandra improve as a defender and player. Sandra has great character and a person who will fit in well with our team and team's philosophy."
Moffat comes to mars Hill as a midfielder from Richlands, N.C. Moffat played for the Onslow Classic Soccer Association, which was ranked ninth in the state for U-18 clubs, in addition to playing at Richlands High School. She is currently in contention to be recognized as a North Carolina Academic Scholar.
"Tyler has the ability to play as a forward or outside midfielder," said Coach Miller. "She has good technical ability and a sound understanding of the game. We are looking forward to Tyler coming in and competing for playing time as a forward and helping us score goals. We are excited to add quality forwards to our young team. I am excited to help Tyler improve as a forward and player. Tyler's personality and work ethic will fit in well with our team and team's philosophy."
