Women’s Soccer Falls in Overtime to Milligan
MARS HILL, N.C. - Ryann Williams scored at the 91:15 mark in the first overtime period to lift Milligan College to a 2-1 victory over Mars Hill in women's soccer action Wednesday night in the Ammons Family Athletic Center and Meares Stadium. The Lions fell to 4-5 overall while the Buffaloes improved to 5-4-1 on the season.
Grace Lancaster scored off a header from Alyssa Morris in the 30th minute to give the Lions a 1-0 lead. That was all the scoring the first half would see.
Teagan Wood tied the contest at the 50:03 mark off a through ball from Lindsey Ogle. Neither team would find the back of the net for the remainder of regulation.Williams' match winner was a header off a corner kick sent in by Caroline Gill.
MHC outshot Milligan, 25-8. Milligan held the advantage in corner kicks, 8-4. Tori Stajduhar played all 91:15 in goal for the Lions and made three saves. Laruen McInturff also played the entire match in the net for Milligan and made 11 saves.
Mars Hill will host SAC rival Catawba College on September 28.
Game time is scheduled for 5 p.m.
