Women’s Soccer Loses at Carson-Newman
JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. - The Carson-Newman Eagles (3-11-2, 1-7-1 SAC) women's soccer team held on for a 1-0 victory over the Mars Hill Lions (6-12, 2-7 SAC) on Saturday evening at McCown Field.
Sidnee Edwards scored the lone goal in the victory. Edwards' game-winning goal came in the 27th minute mark off of a Bianca Hall assist to give the Eagles a 1-0 lead, which would be the final score.
Carson-Newman outshot Mars Hill 18-2 in the match.
Goalkeeper Tiarna McKenna picked up the shutout win for the Eagles, not allowing a goal while Mars Hill did not have a shot on goal. Chelsea Parker played all 90 minutes in goal for Mars Hill and made six saves.
Mars Hill's next match will be in the 2012 SAC Tournament. The Lions will face the no. 1 seed Lenoir-Rhyne Bears at 7 p.m. on October 30. The contest will be played in Hickory, N.C.
