Women's Soccer Loses in Overtime at UNC Asheville
ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The Lions' women's soccer team lost to NCAA Division I rival UNC Asheville, 1-0, in overtime Wednesday evening at Greenwood Field. Mars Hill fell to 0-1-1 on the season while the Bulldogs improved to 3-3 on the year.
Shenny Lehhart scored an unassisted goal 52 seconds into the first overtime period to lift UNCA to the overtime victory. The goal was unassisted.
The Bulldogs out shot MHU 22-7. UNCA edged the Lions in corner kicks 6-2 while MHU was called offsides six times.
Tori Stajduhar played all 90:52 minutes in goal for MHU and made nine saves. Heather Muller also played the entire match in the net for the Bulldogs and made four saves.
Mars Hill will open South Atlantic Conference play at Newberry College on September 14. Match time is slated for a 1:30 p.m. start.
