Women's Soccer Beats Coker in Overtime
Rachel Weber scored on a cross from Aerial Ellis at the 106:35 mark of the second overtime period to lift the Lions over Coker College, 3-2 Saturday afternoon in SAC woman’s soccer action.

MARS HILL, N.C. – Rachel Weber scored on a cross from Aerial Ellis at the 106:35 mark of the second overtime period to lift the Lions over Coker College, 3-2 Saturday afternoon in South Atlantic Conference woman's soccer action at the Ammons Family Athletic Center and Meares Stadium. Mars Hill improved to 2-7-2 overall and 1-5-1 in the SAC. Coker fell to 2-10 on the season and 0-7 in the league.
Millie Rogers scored the first goal of the match in the 16th minute from 15 yards out on a pass from Trah Monroe. That ended the scoring in the first half.
Monroe extended the Cobras advantage to 2-0 at the 45:37 mark on a breakaway. The ball was passed to Monroe from Jenna Pacyna. Alyssa Morris trimmed the Lions' deficit to 2-1 in the 68th minute on a penalty kick.
With less than three minutes left in regulation (87:53), Leah Taylor tied the contest at 2-all scoring off a deflection. The ball was sent in by Weber. After a scoreless first overtime period, the Lions prevailed on Weber's shot in the 107th minute of play.
Mars Hill out shot the Cobras, 20-16. Coker enjoyed six corner kicks. MHU had no corner kicks in the contest, however they were called offsides four times. Tori Stajduhar played all 106:35 in goal for MHU and made nine saves. Lizz Morris also played the entire match in the net for Coker and made 10 saves.
Mars Hill will host Lees-McRae College on Monday, October 14. Match time is set for 7 p.m.
