Women's Soccer Loses at Anderson

ANDERSON, S.C. – Mars Hill lost 4-1 at Anderson Saturday afternoon in South Atlantic Conference women's soccer action at Trojan Stadium. The Lions fell to 0-8 on the season and 0-4 in the conference. The Trojans improved to 4-3-1 on the year and 2-1-1 in the SAC.
Three minutes into the match, Lyssa Engle put Anderson on the board scoring off a cross from Jaclyn Kubiak. Less than a minute later Jordan Allen tied the contest at 1-all scoring off a pass from Rachel Blong. Engle notched what would later prove to be the match winner at the 22:26 mark off a give-and-go from Maddie Volz. The teams carried that score into halftime.
Engle added two insurance goals in the second half to make the final score 4-1 in favor of the home team. Abbey Mills and Tera Dolan assisted Engle's hat trick in the match.
Tori Stajduhar played the first half in goal for MHU. Maslyn Greene played the final 45 minutes in the net for the Lions and made three saves. Sadie Lancaster played all 90 minutes in goal for the Trojans and made five saves.
Anderson outshot MHU 15-10. Anderson edged the Lions in corner kicks 4-3.
Mars Hill will play at Lees-McRae on Monday, September 29. Match time is set for 7 p.m.
