MARS HILL, N.C. – The Lions' fell to Lees-McRae 1-0 in women's soccer action Saturday afternoon in the Ammons Family Athletic Center and Meares Stadium. Mars Hill fell to 0-4 on the season while the Bobcats improved to 1-3 overall.
The only score in the match came at the 15:19 mark when Sarah Mahar beat the Lions' keeper on a breakaway after getting past a couple of Lion defenders in the box. The goal was unassisted.
Overall team shots in the contest were tied at 13 apiece. Shelby Savolainen played all 90 minutes in goal for the Lions and made five saves. Alexis Feely also played the entire match in the net for the Bobcats and made seven saves. Lees-McRae had six corner kicks to the Lions one.
Mars Hill will host Wingate in their SAC season opener on Wednesday, September 16. The Match is set to begin at 5 p.m.
