Women's Soccer Loses to Coker
The Mars Hill women’s soccer team lost to Coker 4-0 in South Atlantic Conference action on Saturday evening in Meares Stadium and Ammons Family Athletic Center.

MARS HILL, N.C. - The Mars Hill women's soccer team lost to Coker 4-0 in South Atlantic Conference action on Saturday evening in Meares Stadium and Ammons Family Athletic Center. Coker improves to 3-5 and 2-3 in the league while Mars Hill falls to 2-8 and 1-4.
Batavia Mata put the Cobras on the board at 8:39 as she dribbled through the Lion defense and fired a shot into the left side of the net. The Cobras took a 2-0 lead with just over 15 minutes to go in the first half thanks to a Heather Blaschke goal from 10 yards out following a Jordan Roy corner kick.
After a foul in the box, Anna Vig scored on a penalty kick at the 62:02 mark to give the Cobras a 3-0 lead. With 1:10 to play, Jenna Pacyna scored off of a rebound from a Mata corner kick.
Mars Hill outshot Coker 12-8 with Coker holding a 6-5 advantage in shots on goal. Coker held a 2-1 advantage in corner kicks.
Shelby Middleton earned the victory in goal for Coker, making five saves. Maslyn Greene made two saves. Both goalies played the entire 90 minutes.
Mars Hill travels to Lenoir-Rhyne on Wednesday for a 5 p.m. match.
