Women's Soccer Falls at Converse

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Lions' women's soccer team fell to Converse 3-0 on the road Saturday afternoon. Mars Hill fell to 1-2-1 overall while the Valkyries improved to 1-1-1 on the season.
Aleonya Hunter recorded five shots (3 on goal) to lead the Lions' offense. Converse outshot the lions, 14-9. Both teams had four corner kicks. MHU was called offsides three times while the Valkyries were called offsides twice. Kaitlyn Danglemaier played all 90 minutes in goal for the Lions and made five saves. Rachel Stalford also played the entire match in the net for Converse and made six saves.
Nicole Doolittle scored off a pass from Hallie Lycans in the sixth minute to give Converse a 1-0 lead. Anyah Preston scored off a rebound in the 11th minute to extend the Valkyries advantage to 2-0. Claudia Coffin then put Converse ahead 3-0 at the 25:24 mark in the first half off a cross from Madison Reeves. The Lions' defense tightened up and did not allow another goal the remainder of the match.
Mars Hill will host Carson-Newman on Wednesday, September 13, to open South Atlantic Conference play. The match is set to begin at 5 p.m.
