Lions shutout against Bulldogs at home
The Lions were held off the scoresheet by an undefeated, visiting Wingate Bulldogs team Wednesday evening at the Ammons Family Athletic Center and Meares Stadium.

MARS HILL, N.C. - The Lions were held off the scoresheet by an undefeated, visiting Wingate Bulldogs team Wednesday evening at the Ammons Family Athletic Center and Meares Stadium.
The Bulldogs jumped out to a commanding 4-0 lead in the first half with four different goal scorers. Gabby Fleischli scored her first goal of the season less than four minutes into the contest. Taking advantage of Kaitlyn Danglemaier's mishandle, a two-on-zero breakaway for the Bulldogs resulted in taking the 1-0 lead. Taylor Leyble picked up the assist.
Less than a minute later, Leyble put Wingate up by two with her third marker of the season.
In the 21st minute, Colleen Zickert drilled home a crossing path from Leyble for her second goal of the campaign.
Just over six minutes later, the Bulldogs extended their lead when Taylor Krakower knocked home her first goal. Carly Veit was credited with the assist.
Sienna Ahlers would net Wingate's fifth goal of the contest with less than four minutes remaining in the second half. Veit picked up her second assist of the match.
Mars Hill falls to 1-5-1 (0-3 SAC) while the Bulldogs jump to 4-1 (3-0 SAC).
The Lions return to action Wednesday, September 27 against conference foe, Coker College. Action is slated for a 5 p.m. start time.
