Martinsen named SAC Offensive Player of the Week
Sophomore forward Sanne Martinsen was named the South Atlantic Conference Offensive Player of the Week following her four-goal performance versus Coker.
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – The South Atlantic Conference announced its AstroTurf Women's Soccer Players of the Week for matches played between Sept. 23 and Sept. 29. Mars Hill forward Sanne Martinsen was named the offensive player of the week, while Carson-Newman goalkeeper Jasmine Rizk was named defensive player of the week.
Martinsen, a sophomore from Skarnes, Norway, was the offensive force for the Lions in their 4-1 win over Coker last week. She scored all four goals for eight points in the match. Martinsen now leads the Lions with five goals for the season. This is her first offensive player of the week honor of the year.
Rizk, a senior from Andersonville, Tenn., led the Eagles to a 2-0 record last week with a pair of shutout victories. She made four saves in Carson-Newman's 3-0 win over Belmont Abbey. She then posted six saves in their conference win over Anderson, 1-0. For the week she had 10 saves in 180 minutes with no goals allowed. This is Rizk's first defensive player of the week honor of the season.
