MARS HILL, N.C. - The Mars Hill women's soccer team (2-8-1) was defeated by Lander (6-3-1) by a score of 3-0 Wednesday night inside Meares Stadium.
Maren White opened the scoring in the 32nd minute, netting her sixth of the year and first of the evening. Katie Arthur's corner kick deflected off of Romie Llewellyn, finding the foot of White as she put the Bearcats up 1-0 in the first half.
In the second half, Annika Seifart scored her second of the year in the 50th minute, heading in a corner kick from Arthur. White netted her second of the evening in the 72nd minute as a ball settled by Emma Sexton inside the box rolled to White's feet and she hammered home the third Bearcats' goal.
Lander outshot the Lions 25-1 with 10 of their attempts going on target. Llewellyn led all players with seven attempts. Sarah Owen picked up her fifth win on the year while Victoria Forren made six saves in the losing effort.
The Lions return to South Atlantic Conference play on Saturday, October 9 when they face Coker on the road. Kickoff is set for 4:30 p.m.
