Strong Effort by Seniors Leads Lions Over King
MARS HILL, N.C.-The Mars Hill women's swim team defeated King 166-73 in Appalachian Swim Conference action Saturday afternoon at Harrell Pool.
The team honored seniors Megan Bartlett, Taylor Bugg and Miranda Schmidt prior to the game. All three seniors turned in big performances in the victory, including combining to make up part of two winning relay teams. The three were part of the first-place 200 Free Relay and 200 Medley Relay teams. Schmidt added victories in the 200 Back and 200 IM, while Bartlett was victorious in the 200 Breast. The Lions now have a 7-1 record this season.

Nicole Day was the final member of both the 200 Free Relay and 200 Medley Relay teams that placed first. Day added a win in the 200 Free with a time of 2:04.54, with her fastest split being 28.80 seconds.
Mars Hill swimmers were successful in other Free events as well. Emma Duffy took home first in the 1000 Free. Maggie Mills added a victory in the 100 Free with a time of 57.39 and Elle Grier won the 500 Free, swimming a time of 5:40.42.
Lauren Davis added a first-place finish in the 100 Breast. Her time of 1:16.16 featured a 35.86 split.

Appalachian Swim Conference meet next Saturday, Jan. 25 at 5:00
p.m. in Harrell Pool.
