Lions in Fourth at Conference Championship Meet
BARBOURVILLE, KY.- The Mars Hill women's swim team is in fourth place after day one of the Applachian Swim Conference Championship Meet, which took place Thursday.
BARBOURVILLE, KY.- The Mars Hill women's swim team is in fourth place after day one of the Applachian Swim Conference Championship Meet, which took place Thursday.
The Lions earned 51 points and were paced by a fifth-place finish in the 400 Medley Relay. Elle Grier and Emma Duffy each turned in top ten performances in the 1650 Free. Notre Dame College (Ohio) leads the meet with 96 points overall. Wheeling Jesuit is in second place, while the Lions trail third-place Brenau by just seven points.
The 400 Medley Relay team turned in a time of 4:09.61 for their fifth-place finish. The team was made up of Miranda Schmidt, Megan Bartlett, Nicole Day and Taylor Bugg. Day turned in a split of 26.54, with Bugg turning in the Lions' best split in the event at 26.49.
Grier and Duffy placed seventh and eighth respectively in the 1650 Free, finishing less than one second apart. Grier turned in a time of 18:33.70, while Duffy finished just behind at 18:34.51.
Competition for the Appalachian Swim Conference Championship continues today. Preliminary swims were due to begin at 9:30 a.m., with finals events beginning at 6:00 p.m. Live streaming of finals events can be found by clicking on the link below.
